About the maker
Female founder Asmaa Aman-Tran, a fiber artist and ceramicist behind Hand & Fiber, currently resides in Boston with her husband Chris, and daughter Nylaa. She was born in Casablanca, Morocco and spent most of her life there before moving to Boston. Having grown up in such an exceptional and diverse culture with all its colors and wonders, her work reflects the diversity in its many forms.
Asmaa discovered weaving in 2016, and has not stopped exploring the endless possibilities and freedom that the textile art offers. Her work celebrates her Moroccan artisanal heritage and cultural art. She takes Moroccan traditional techniques and weaves her heritage into pieces. Lambskin meets copper, wool meets clay - all while incorporating metallic silver sequins to her woven pieces by hand knotting.
