Deadline to sign up for the workshop: Friday, April 9, 2021 by 12pm PST
In this virtual workshop, textile artist Hilary L Hahn will guide you through the basics of natural dye. Learn how to look for natural fabrics, prep your botanical dye bath, and create a personalized design with Shibori folding techniques. You will be starting out with a bandana but there is enough dye to upcycle an additional piece of clothing. Upcycle a tee or pillow case and make it new to you!
We will be creating our dye baths with all natural materials. Our kit includes two easy to work with botanical dyes: madder root (which comes from the Rubia Cordifolia plant that has been cultivated as dye for centuries) and chamomile flowers (which are frequently used as an herbal tea but they also make a wonderful natural dye).
Your dye kit will include:
This virtual workshop + dye kit makes a great gift and can be a fun bonding activity between friends. Connect with other creatives and learn to create natural dyes from botanical ingredients!
Note: Class size is limited to 12-14 students, so that there is enough attention given to students. Also, a generous portion of the proceeds from your purchase of this class helps us fundraise for Our Little Stand's Give Back Program, which aims to provide creative skill-based training workshops to communities in need, and to those less fortunate who don't have access to these resources.
